No grown-up taste buds

Maybe some find the design cute, I actually don’t. Anyway… I still got very interested when I recently came across some “Grown up chocolate bars” in a shop. After all I like (and consume) candy bars a lot. Most of the time, though, it doesn’t really end with great satisfaction. The majority of candy bars is made by mass production containing poor, cheap ingredients and usually they are very clearly on the sweet side. The Grown Up Chocoalte Company promises “deliciously decadent” hand-made candy bars “for grown-ups only”. I wish that was true…

Two of the candy bars from The Grown Up Chocolate Company. Nothing grown-up in there, though. Two of the candy bars from The Grown Up Chocolate Company. Nothing grown-up in there, though.

In reality, the candy bars rather look like two enormeous pralines instead of the classical, longish candy bar. And very unfortunately this turned out to be a very good hint for the literal shortcoming flavor-wise. Not that the bars taste totally awfull. They simply don’t taste any better than a random chocolate bar you could get from an ordinary vending machine. Primarily this means: crazy sweet1. Nothing grown-up here2.

Footnotes
  1. I have to admit that I only tasted two of their current 9 candy bars. The “Crunchy crispy toffee trilogy” and the “Salted peanut caramel cracker”. Since only one out of their 9 bar used dark chocolate, I am pretty sure that at least 8 out of 9 will be very very sweet… []
  2. Grown-up taste or not… they apparently are fairly successful as it looks… even without me as future costumer… []
